VRMA Education Tracks are designed to create an understanding of the session theme before entering the room. Each track is defined below to help guide you in the right direction when it comes to session applicability and relevance to your day-to-day work within the vacation rental management industry.

Track Definitions

 Advocacy

Focus on government regulations, new policies being put in place (all over the country), regulations property managers need to be aware of and legal actions taking place. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you on working with your local officials.

 Business Strategy

Focus on strategic initiatives that drive your business forward and towards growth (i.e. revenue management and software platforms), for those newer to the industry (gaining a general understanding of the industry and business) and succession planning. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you to grow your business and prepare for the future.

 Finance and Legal Operations

Focus on budgeting processes, accounting information to properly run your business, legal understandings (OSHA regulations, understanding when you may need a lawyer, ADA guidelines) and more. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you on your financial understanding and staying current on legal issues related to your company.

 Guest Journey

Focus on the guest! Guests are not tourists, visitors, or travelers. It’s important to understand how to market to them, their arrival experience, issue recovery, guest follow up on reviews/surveys and the rebooking process. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you to have the ultimate guest experience!

 HR/Personnel

Focus on the people side of your company. This would be anything from your organizational structure, job descriptions, how you recruit, to hiring, onboarding and new hire training. This is where you’d review employee handbooks, annual reviews, company culture and how to support your team. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you to ensure your employees are happy and satisfied within their roles and responsibilities.

 Operations/VRHP

Focus on maintenance, housekeeping, laundry and the scheduling, coordination and execution of these tasks. Not only will you talk about ‘back-of-house’ but you’ll also understand off-season work (generating income), seasonal employment (contractors vs. employees (training and onboarding for these staff members) and preventative maintenance. Sessions within this track would fall under one of these categories and help prepare you to understand all operations that are part of your business – no matter how big or small.

Focus on the owner! From acquisition strategies, to effective onboarding, to preparing the property for rentals (design, safety, security, etc.), sessions within this track will help you have a great owner relationship and further the owner’s journey with your company.

  • Acquisition (Strategies in a competitive environment beyond lower commissions)
